Guerrilla Augmented Reality
60 min session
Advancements in technology are changing how we communicate and interact with each other. Earlier this year a group of internet artists invaded the MoMa and set up an augmented reality (AR) show without permission. These artists used AR to replace cellular images of Jackson Pollock paintings with their own content. Their goal was to make a statement against elitism and exclusivity within the art world. Now that AR technology has become more accessible viewers have been given the opportunity to participate in traditionally one-sided visual conversations. In this session, we will discuss additional examples of Guerrilla Augmented Reality and potential leverage points for activism and community organizing.
Want to experiment with this technology? Sign up to be a member of our Guerrilla Augmented Reality Cohort. It's a creative workgroup that will meet once a week for three weeks beginning this month on June 29th. Sign up today!
